At Andersonville, Georgia, site of a famous Confederate prison during the Civil War, there are 13,706 graves of Union soldiers who died in the prison camp. In the book called Andersonville Diary by John L. Ransom published at Auburn, New York, in 1881, appears a list of the graves that have been identified. There are three for soldiers named SPARKS and one for a soldier named SPARK.
L. D. SPARKS. Grave 1690. 66th Indiana Regiment, Company D. He died on June 7,1864.
M. J. SPARKS (actually Matthew T. Sparks). Grave 3060. 5th Iowa Regiment, Company K. He died on June 9, 1864.
E. SPARKS. Grave 6975. 10th New York Regiment, Company 13. He died on August 27, 1864.
G. SPARK. Grave 9954. 16th New York Artillery Regiment, Company B. He died on September 28, 1864.
