In the Quarterly of September 1976 (Vol. XXIV, No. 3, Whole No. 95, p. 1854) we published a record of the Sparks families appearing on the Pennsylvania census of 1800. Here we list those appearing in 1810. It is interesting to note that, whereas in 1800 there were 20 households in Pennsylvania headed by persons named Sparks, in 1810 this number had been reduced to 17.
The 1810 federal census contains the same information about households as did that of 1800; readers are referred to the introduction appearing on page 1853 to that 1800 census. Only the name of the head of the household was recorded. The rest of the family, including anyone who happened to be living in the household at the time, was enumerated by sex and by age group. The head of the household, whose name was recorded, was included in this enumeration.
In the first issue of the Quarterly (March 1953) we listed the names of the persons named Sparks appearing on the 1790 census of Pennsylvania. In the March 1977 issue (Vol. XXV, No. 1, Whole No. 97, pp. 1882-1883) we listed those appearing on the 1830 census of the state.
