Kirtley E. Tucker of 470 E. Center St., Kaysville, Utah (84037) asks if anyone knows the parentage of Jane or Jennie Sparks, born ca. 1820, probably in Ashe County, North Carolina. She died in Ashe County on June 21, 1893. She married William Dollar in Orange County, North Carolina, on May 22, 1838. The bondsmen were W. McCauley and George Browning. A Candis Sparks married Christopher Lynn in Orange County the following year (marriage bond dated September 12, 1839). Christopher and Candis (Sparks) Lynn were in Wake County, N.C., in 1850 and living with them at that time was an Elizabeth Sparks, age 65, born in North Carolina.

QUERY -- CHRISTOPHER AND ABIGAIL SPARKS

PARENTS OF JEMIMA (SPARKS) BACON, 1806-1887

Mrs. Mae P. Hinton, 630 Linden St., Chico, California (95926) is seeking information on Christopher and Abigail Sparks who are listed as parents of Jemima (Sparks) Bacon on the latter's death certificate dated August 12, 1887, Nashville Township, Martin County, Minnesota. Jemima (Sparks) Bacon was born August 20, 1806, in Livingston County, New York. She was married in New York to George W. Bacon, who was born November 20, 1803, in Vermont and died on April 19, 1885, in Nashville Center, Martin County, Minnesota. George W. and Jemima (Sparks) Bacon had the following children, all born at Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York:

(1) Mary Bacon, born 1829-30.
(2) Samuel Bacon, born 1832.
(3) William Bacon, born 1833-34.
(4) Fidelia Bacon, died at the age of five.
(5) Salina Bacon, born 1840.
(6) Sarah Jemima Bacon, born March 9, 1842, died December 14, 1913; she married John M. Hinton.
(7) Cordelia Bacon, born 1844.
(8) Emma F. Bacon, born 1848 -49.

We have very little data from Livingston County, New York, and no reference whatever to a Christopher Sparks there. We have a record of an Olive Sparks, born between 1780 and 1790, apparently a widow, living in Spring Water Township with two small children (females) when the 1830 census was taken. We also have a record of a Comfort Sparks, born between 1790 and 1800, living with his family in the town of Avon when the 1840 census was taken of Livingston County.
