QUERY

Willie E. Sparks Damet, P.O. Box 515, Wagoner, OK 74477, is seeking the place of birth of her grandfather, Christopher Columbus Sparks, who was born September 18, 1856, in Texas. He was a son of William and Sarah Ann (Emerick) Sparks. The family was in Bosque County, Texas, in 1860. Georgia M. Jeffries of Eugene, OR, reported in 1984 that he was born at a place called Kimelsville, Texas, near the Brazos River. There was a village named Kimball in Bosque County, Texas, in 1897. Apparently neither place exists today. Can anyone shed further light on this question?

RESPONSE TO QUERY

In response to a query appearing on page 3056 of the June 1987 Quarterly (Whole No. 138), Jo Ann Robison Holman has written: "According to the Houston Public Library, Houston, TX, the town of Kimball, Bosque County, Texas, was located in the northeast part of the county. It was a prosperous township; in 1853-4 the first school in Bosque County, Kimball Academy, was established. In 1881, the railroad, (the Colorado R. R.) bypassed Kimball, and that was its downfall. In the year 1945, the town was listed as having 10 residents and one place of business. I am still searching for Kimelsville for you."
