FAMILY OF LESTER W. AND SARAH (STONE) SPARKS



The following record has been taken from Book II of the Family of John Stone, by Truman L. Stone, Buffalo, 1898, pp. 133 and 223.

Sarah Stone, daughter of Reuben and Almira (Merrell) Stone, was born in Orangeville, New York, October 28, 1820, and died at Portland, Michigan, January 15, 1871. She married, April 21, 1854, 63. Lester W. Sparks of North Plains, Michigan. He was born June 11, 1811, at Syracuse, New York, and died July 30, 1882, at Grenola, Kansas. He was a farmer and lived in North Plains and Portland, Michigan, and in Grenola, Kansas. They were the parents of two children:

63.1 Harvey Burt Sparks, born at North Plains, Michigan, August 8, 1855. When quite young he removed with his father to Kansas. He is by occupation a farmer, and now (1898) resides at Hydesville, California. He is single.

63.2 Clark Merrill Sparks was born at Muir, Michigan, July 14, 1858. He has been married twice, first, November 20, 1876, to Cora Ettie Dickson, who was born at Portland, Michigan, March 23, 1860, and died September 15, 1887, at Senica, Missouri. He married, second, June 17, 1891, at Cleveland, Oklahoma, Lizzie H. Goss, who was born January 30, 1876. Mr. Sparks is (1898) an architect and builder. He was the second settler in Broome County, Oklahoma. He has two children by his first wife:
