SPARKS HOUSEHOLDS APPEARING ON THE
1830 CENSUS OF MICHIGAN TERRITORY

The Territory of Michigan was organized in 1805; it was not until 1837 that Michigan was admitted to the Union as the 26th state. When the 1830 census of the Territory was taken, one Sparks household was found, that of Cornelius Sparks living in Berrien County.

An article about Cornelius Sparks and his family appeared in the Quarterly of March 1978, Whole No. 101, pp. 1965-1984.
A record of the Sparks households found on the 1840 census appears on page 3335, Whole No. 144.
In the Quarterly of September 1983, Whole No. 123, pp. 2543-48, we published a record of the persons named Sparks (Sparkes and Spark) found on the 1850 census of Michigan.

The 1830 census provided for the same listing and enumeration of households as did that of 1840.
